A writing class for area homeschoolers will be starting August 18th. This class will be taught by Debbie Thompson, a homeschool veteran. She enjoys literature and writing along with helping others enjoy them too.
The class will be geared toward high school students, but if you feel that your 7th or 8th grade student would benefit from this class contact Debbie to find out if it is a good fit for your child.
You can RSVP to Debbie Thompson. Deadline for sign up will be August 11th.
NOTE: There is a book that is required and the students need to have the first chapter read before the first class (the first chapter is about 5 pages long).
WRITING CLASS SPECIFICS
The Reflective Essay
Using the quirky, fun reflective essays of GK Chesterton as models, students will learn to write about their observations in a way that will help them to grow ability to think clearly and to communicate. Since reflection is one of the ways the Bible impacts our everyday thinking, this is a good style to practice first. As a side benefit, this style is similar to the essay required by many colleges in their application process. For more information or to sign up contact: Debbie Thompson email murkw00d at yahoo.
