“There are people, who the more you do for them,
the less they will do for themselves.”
Jane Austen (1775-1817) one of the foremost novelists of the early 19th century, was primarily educated at home benefiting from her father’s extensive library and the open learning environment created from his teaching other children within the Austen home.
While her works appear on the surface to be mere romantic fiction with the focus on relationships of her heroes and heroines, it is her ironic tone and social commentary that have earned their place in classic literature.

I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading!
How much sooner one tires of anything than of a book!
When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable
if I have not an excellent library.
