Exercise, Fun, and Fellowship – Homeschool Family Open Gym Time in Viroqua

This post has been updated.

Do you incorporate regular physical education in your homeschool?

You know that exercise is good for you and the growth and well-being of your children, right?

But for some reason we just don’t do so much left to our own devices.

Even with the best intentions, many homeschool parents make sure academics are covered before making time for extras like physical education.

To thrive and succeed in our homeschool life, kids and parents need to make time for structured physical activity.

Having fun and being with other people helps…

Are you ready for an awesome chance to get together on a weekly basis at The GYM in Viroqua?

We have scheduled the next 8 weeks of varying times and days of the week to play, fellowship, and get to know each other better. As this works out maybe it will grow into something more.

You can bring balls, floor games, jump ropes, radio controlled toys, or whatever you have.

The GYM is a good-size open space with basketball hoops and bleachers, smaller spaces with tables, and even an exercise room.

This is a chance for kids to run off some extra energy, or give moms a chance to talk or walk while the kids play.  We can make as much structure – or not – as we need.

The GYM is God’s Youth Ministry.

I’m probably not doing this at all right.  I know nothing about organized physical education. I just know that The GYM is such an awesome opportunity that for homeschoolers to use. As just another homeschool mom, I’m basically going outside of my box on this.

Because of my family’s involvement with the Tri County Blazers basketball team, I have seen how God worked through all the people and funding hurdles to make The GYM come together. Dave and Kathy Clark bought the building on faith and prayer that God would provide the means to making a community gymnasium.  With volunteer manpower and monetary donations from all over the community, The GYM vision became reality; filling a need in the community.  People and groups were asking about using The GYM even before the building was even ready. Cornerstone Christian Academy uses it for their gym classes and for other activities. Tri County basketball teams use it for practices and games.

So I jumped at the chance to get homeschoolers on The GYM calendar.  If you’re willing to be part of this “experiment” give me a call or shoot me an email.

Warmth, Health, and Blessings,
