American Legion Auxiliary, Unit #13 of Richland Center is sponsoring their annual Americanism Essay Contest.
This year’s topic is “HOW CAN I SHOW MY PRIDE in BEING an AMERlCAN?”
According to Jean Birkett, Americanism Chair, “We have had wonderful essays over the years with many winners at the at the state level. Whether students get a prize or not, I believe that they all gain a great deal from the experience: thinking, analyzing, and expressing themselves as writers.”
Americanism Essay Contest
For Who: All Students in grades 3 – 12. Open to homeschool, public, and private school students, anyone can enter even if you do not live in Richland County.
Assignment: Write an essay based on this theme: “How Can I Show My Pride in Being an American.” See the Entry Sheet for word count requirements for each grade level.
Due Date: Weds., March 19th, 2014. Email entry to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Prizes: Cash prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each division. Winners get to read their essays at the American Legion Auxiliary meeting on Mon., April 7th.
